    Each year in the United States more than one million children under the age of 18 experiences the divorce of their parents.  Kids First is a four-hour interactive experience that focuses on how effective parenting during this time of transition can lessen the negative impact of divorce and parental separation on children.

    A parent guidebook, (now available in Spanish) videotaped segments, group discussions and hypothetical situations keep participants actively engaged and maximize their learning.   The emphasis is on what parents can do proactively to circumvent negative consequences for their children.  Mental health professionals with expertise in parenting, the impact of divorce on children, and child custody present parenting relationships along a continuum from parallel parenting to cooperative parenting. Evaluation results have been overwhelmingly positive.

    How do I register?
    Participants can register for an Online Course , attend a Class in person, or they can mail in their registration with a check or money order.

    Who May attend?
    Any interested person or professional, including parents, grandparents, step-parents, partners, and other family members are invited.  Parents involved in a divorce, motion to modify, or other suits involving the parent/child relationship may be required by the court to attend.  Class size is limited. Register today. You'll be glad you did!

    When and where are the seminars held?

    Classes are held on week day evenings and on Saturday mornings in selected locations.  Most counties have a class once a month.  Larger counties will have more options.  See our schedule for class dates and times in your area. Pre-registration for the Waxahachie location is required.

    What is the cost?
    Fees are $45 per person, payable by credit card, check, or money order made out to Kids First.  Fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.  $55 payment can be made at the door with cash or money order except in the Waxahachie location.  Pre-registration is required in Waxahachie.  The fee for the Online course is $50.


    Will I receive a Certificate of Completion?

    Yes. All participants receive an embossed certificate of completion upon completing the course.

    May children attend? No.  Childcare is not available during the seminar.  Please do not bring
    children to the seminar.

    Each participant attending our seminar receives a parent guidebook which outlines and expands upon the seminar content.  Parent guidebooks are available in Spanish,  The program is taught by mental health professionals with expertise in child custody, parenting, and the impact of divorce on children.
